DC Electronics has announced that registration is now open for their Formula Student 2011 programme. This follows the success of the 2010 workshops, which attracted students from universities across the UK.
Formula Student challenges mechanical engineering students to design and build their own single seater racing car and compete in an annual competition at Silverstone in July. This year, teams from across the world descended on Silverstone for the four day event, which is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) in partnership with various other organisations.
DC Electronics will be hosting half-day wiring loom workshops designed to give students the opportunity to get the full potential from their cars. Attendees will learn how to design and build a bespoke and winning wiring harness from one of the most knowledgeable and technically advanced teams in the business. In addition, DC Electronics will also be offering exclusive discounts on wiring products and hardware from manufacturers including Cosworth, DTA, MoTeC, OBR, Race Technology and Stack.
David Cunliffe, Director and Co-founder of DC Electronics, said: “Formula Student is a fantastic initiative which gives the budding motorsport professionals of the future the opportunity to compete with each other on the international stage. This year, our workshops received incredibly positive feedback and I will personally be available to offer my advice to the next generation of motorsport electrical engineers.”
DC Electronics has over 10 years experience in the design and build of high quality, professional and reliable electrical systems for the motorsport and high performance road car industries. Their products can be found in rally, world touring cars, GT, superbikes, F1 and even power boats. The world-class projects the company has worked on include the Bloodhound project which aims to beat the 1000mph land speed record, the new Noble M600 and the McRae Enduro.
Dates for the courses are still to be finalised, but due to their popularity, early registration is recommended. To reserve your place, simply email DC Electronics on sales@wiringlooms.com.
